From inside his own half, Carragher took a throw-in on the right, back to Hyypiä. He played it infield to Hamann who hit a low, straight pass over the half-way line and up to Diouf who was immediately fouled.
The resulting free-kick found its way to Milan Baroš who was able to turn and advance forwards. He spotted Michael Owen asking for the ball and played it up to him with the outside of his right foot.

Owen let the ball drift past him then outpaced a defender, moved into the box and hit an early, low shot that whistled past the keeper and inside the far post.

Hyypiä played a long ball down the left wing which Owen ran on to. He was fouled by a defender as he tried to go past him, which resulted in a free-kick close to the corner flag. Murphy's inswinger was headed away, as was Hamann's return cross from the right. The ball returned to Hamann, he fed Gerrard and his whipped cross from the right found Owen in the six yard box.
Owen knocked the ball across goal to Milan Baroš whose first shot was saved on the line. His second effort hit the keeper's foot and then the heel of a defender before finally crossing the line.

After Diouf had pressurised a defender into conceding a corner, he took the kick himself from the right. Diouf quickly played the ball back to Gerrard who took a touch before swinging in a cross towards the back post.
Milan Baroš timed his run perfectly and wasn't picked up but the touch with his right foot was not as intended and the ball went across the six yard box.

As Baroš was moving quickly, he probably would have still reached the ball. However, it fell invitingly into the path of Michael Owen who tapped home at the far post a fraction of a second ahead of Baroš.

After Hyypiä blocked a pass just in front of the 'D', the ball broke upfield to Michael Owen. He played a first time pass out to the right and Milan Baroš collected it on the right wing, midway inside the attacking half.
Baroš beat the fullback for pace, turned towards the penalty area before cutting back inside, not once but twice. Covered by the last two defenders, he then slid a square ball with his right foot to an unmarked Owen.

A six man move began when Riise took a throw-in on the left, inside his own half. After six players (including Danny Murphy and Michael Owen) had played eight passes, the ball came back to Murphy standing in the middle of the attacking half with his back to goal. He was afforded time to turn and he delayed a right-footed pass long enough for Owen to make a run forwards.

After Dudek had regained possession within his six yard box, he spotted Steven Gerrard in space and threw the ball out to him.
Receiving the ball on the right, in the middle of the defensive half, Gerrard took it forward a little before hitting a long, curling through ball with his right foot.

Goal

Milan Baroš had found space in between the two centre backs and Gerrard's perfectly weighted pass enabled him to head towards goal. Baroš controlled the bouncing ball with a couple of touches before hitting a low volley that went through the keeper's legs.
